Sixth Form Programmes of Study

Rickmansworth Sixth Form offers a wide and extensive range of A Level courses, details of which can be found in our curriculum section and the prospectus page.

All students are required to study at least three A Levels and many complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) if they apply and meet the criteria.

Students who fulfil the entry requirements may choose to study four subjects to A Level.

Year 12 Examinations

In the summer term of Year 12, students will sit a set of mock examinations. Underperformance in these examinations will not put a student's place in the sixth form at risk. Help, support and guidance will be offered by the subject teachers and Sixth Form pastoral staff and students may be offered an alternative programme of study.  

In the Sixth Form, students follow a full programme of study. The breakdown of hours that students are expected to undertake can be found below:

Year 12

A student completing 3 A Levels:

1 hour per fortnight of Extended Learning Programme 1 hour
1 hour per fortnight of Enrichment Studies 1 hour
1 hour per fortnight of Sixth Form Games 1 hour
3 hours 40 minutes per fortnight of Pastoral Time 3 hours 40 minutes
TOTAL PROGRAMME OF STUDY HOURS 692 HOURS


YEAR 12

A STUDENT COMPLETING 4 A LEVELS
